In a formal response, Community Engagement Manager Bala Nirmanusan confirmed that the omission was not intentional and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to inclusivity and cultural recognition across New South Wales.


The statement highlighted the significant contributions of the Yazidi community to Australia’s multicultural society and recognised the deep meaning of the Yazidi New Year within the community.


Multicultural NSW also committed to ensuring greater visibility of diverse cultural and religious observances in future communications, including proper recognition of the Yazidi New Year.


This response is seen as a positive step forward by community advocates, reinforcing ongoing efforts to promote awareness, respect, and inclusion of Yazidi culture across Australia.
