International Women’s Day – 8 March Honouring the Strength of Yazidi Women

On this International Women’s Day, the Yazidi House in Australia pays tribute to the extraordinary courage and resilience of thousands of Yazidi women who were captured, enslaved, and subjected to unimaginable suffering by ISIS during the genocide of 2014 in Sinjar, northern Iraq.

These women endured atrocities the world should never forget. Yet despite the pain and trauma, many have risen with incredible strength — becoming voices for justice, dignity, and the survival of the Yazidi people.

Today we remember those who are still missing, we honour the survivors who continue to rebuild their lives, and we stand with every Yazidi woman who refuses to let darkness silence her story.

Yazidi women are not only survivors — they are symbols of resilience, courage, and hope for future generations.

The Yazidi House in Australia calls on the international community to continue supporting survivors, seeking justice for the crimes committed, and ensuring that such atrocities never happen again.

On this day, we say:

Your strength inspires the world.

Your voices will never be forgotten.
